Liz wainwright

Merchants Exchange of Portland, Oregon

 

 

 

In 1996 Liz Wainwright became the fifth Executive Director of the Merchants Exchange of Portland, Oregon.    In this capacity she also serves as the Executive Director of the Maritime Fire & Safety Association (MFSA) and the Independent Administrator of the Columbia River Shippers Association (CRSA).  She manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Exchange and 10 client association members with the support of 14 full and part time staff.  As Executive Director, she serves on numerous committees and regional workgroups focused on marine transportation system issues and government regulations.  The Merchants Exchange, established in 1879, provides vessel logistics, vessel & cargo statistics, answering services and association management services to its members and the regional maritime community of the lower Columbia and Willamette Rivers.

 

Liz has over 30 years experience in the marine transportation industry including 17 years with Lasco Shipping Co., a ship owner’s managing agent located in Portland, where she held numerous positions including Vice President, Operations Manager.  Prior to coming to the Merchants Exchange Liz had served on various maritime industry boards including the State of Oregon Board of Maritime Pilots, Columbia River Steamship Operators Association, The World Trade Club, the Women’s Shipping Club and as a founding member of the Women’s Shipping Club Scholarship Fund.  She currently serves on the Boards of the Maritime Information Service of North American (MISNA) and the Oregon Society of Association Management.   In 2003 Liz served as President of MISNA and is currently serving as Treasurer.

 

Liz graduated from Oregon State University in 1970.
